BOARD RESPONSIBILITIES
At Pathways to Hope of Livingston County, we take pride in having an active, working Board of Directors whose dedicated involvement is the cornerstone of our organization's success. Members of the Board of Directors play a crucial role in our organization's and our programs' governance and vitality. Their job responsibilities typically include:
STRATEGIC PLANNING
Contribute to developing and implementing the organization's strategic plan, setting long-term goals and objectives.
GOVERNANCE
Ensure the organization complies with legal and ethical standards and upholds the organization's bylaws.
FIDUCIARY OVERSIGHT
Monitor and approve the organization's budget, financial statements, and major financial decisions. Ensure fiscal responsibility and accountability.
FUNDRAISING & RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
Actively participate in fundraising efforts, leveraging personal and professional networks to secure resources for the organization.
ADVOCACY & PUBLIC RELEATIONS
Represent the organization in the community, advocate for its mission, and help build relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and government agencies. Engage with beneficiaries, clients, volunteers, and staff to understand their needs and perspectives.
OVERSIGHT & ACCOUNTABILITY
Hire, evaluate, and support the organization's executive director and provide guidance and feedback on their performance. Establish key performance indicators and regularly assess the organization's progress toward its goal.
BOARD MEETINGS & PARTICIPATION
Attend and actively participate in regular board meetings, working board meetings, committee meetings, and special sessions as needed. Demonstrate a strong commitment to the organization's mission and actively engage in its activities and initiatives, including public relations events, community events, and fundraisers.
ETHICAL & LEGAL COMPLIANCE
Ensure that the organization operates ethically and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
